Instead of writing about Indian food or recipes, I thought I would take this time to share with you the things for which I give thanks.
First, and most important, I give thanks for my fantastic husband who not only allows me to spend my days cooking and writing but supports me in a huge way to make my website and next cookbook a success. We are best friends and partners in everything we do. I could not be luckier!
Second, I am thankful for my two wonderful children who have grown up to be terrific adults. My daughter graduated from college this year and is thrilled to have started her career at a marketing firm nearby. My son is now in college and has left the nest. Unfortunately for him, his parents visit him way too often because we are the anxiety.
Next, my mother has supported me through my long and varied career that started in Toledo and culminated in
Dallas. I am so glad that she moved to Texas when my children were little so we could all benefit: free afterschool care, chauffeured rides to various lessons, special treats and, most of all, her unconditional love.
Last, I am thankful for my in-laws, Balakrishnan and Kachi, who were the inspiration for my first cookbook. Kachi hand wrote each of the initial recipes and participated in the seemingly endless editing of the manuscript. My plan for an Indian cookbook grew in scope to a blog, a website and my cooking has transformed into the new exciting world of Indian fusion cooking.
Please share your thanks with those you love. Happy Thanksgiving.
